Which Type of Migraine Do You Have?

Which Type of Migraine Do You Have?

Reed Chiropractic Clinic in Solon offers a variety of nutritional and physical therapies. For example, we help patients who suffer from migraines. These severe headaches manifest in a few different forms.

Migraines with Aura

“Auras” describe migraines that are accompanied by a visual disturbance, such as blind spots, strange colors, “seeing stars,” or lines. These migraines occur less frequently throughout the year and a chiropractor can help with potential underlying causes.

Migraines without Aura

Migraine sufferers in the Solon area frequently experience what is known as migraines without auras. These are far more common than those with an aura. As the name suggests, these types of migraines do not have visual disturbances.

Chronic Migraines

Chronic migraines are rare and a relatively new classification. People with chronic migraines can lose half a month, every month, of their lives to this debilitating condition. The migraines themselves are similar to other types, the only difference being how regularly they occur.

Menstrual Migraines

Women can experience what is known as menstrual migraines. These migraines are linked to the change in bodily hormones and can occur before, during, or shortly after menstruation. A chiropractor can offer specialized therapy to alleviate pain associated with menstrual migraines.

Hemiplegic Migraines

Migraines of this type are possibly the rarest. Hemiplegic migraines are accompanied by a temporary weakening of one side of the body. You might experience a “pins and needles” sensation or a general weakness on half of the face, arms, legs, or one full side of the body. This can last for part of or the entire duration of the migraine.
